I hear it's been snowing in England...

Well as you can see from the pics, it is FAR from snowing in Thailand!

I've spent the last week in Koh Samui and am now in Koh Lanta. Very different islands...

Koh Samui was fantastic, but very commercial (not quite Phuket but nearly).

I liked it.. it was a nice kind of busy. It was also perfect for kiteboarding! I'd never tried kiteboarding.. or even surfing before but it was so much fun learning, if it wasn't so expensive I'd have stayed on Koh Samui and done loads more of it.

I think it's especially fun if you're as small as me cuz the kite lifts you right up out of the water.. I skipped a few steps early on and got straight into body dragging! I was learning with a couple of Dutch guys (see pics) who were ex Navy - they didn't seem to have quite the same flying abilities as me.. nevermind I'm sure one day they'll get to my standard! Seriously though.. it's a must try for any of you who love surfing. I LOVED it! Roo loved it so much on his first day that he bought himself a kite and board!

Koh Lanta is a much quiter island, and still very much recovering from the Tsunami damage. As an island i prefer it to Koh Samui.. it's far more beautiful and the weather is hotter for longer (Koh Samui got a bit cloudy in the afternoons). Went out in a speedboat yesterday and did some of the best snorkelling i've done out here, amazing diversity of sea life round here! The speedboat was bloody scary though... 2m waves nearly capsized us a few times.. it was more of an exhilerating ride than the relaxing one I was expecting.. I loved it!

Plan from now gets a bit sketchy.. heading back to Bangkok in 2 days and then we'll see.. keep you posted more often now... I promise x
